box 1995

In many ways, Box was as much a new beginning as it was a resolution.
The departure of two original members and a difference of opinions and
agenda for the three remaining members meant Box had a sound and style
that would stand alone from the previous offering. Adam and Zoran had
decidedly less time and motivation to write for "Box" and the outcome was
more a reflection of frustration and current society attitudes than true to
their own style.
With only the Top 40 hit "Accidentally Cool" to speak of, and a less than
warming response to the Album from Radio, the sales of 25,000 were more a
reflection of a devoted fan base than any industry support.
It is an album with more lyrical integrity, but perhaps less of what is
considered 'just add water instant hit.' You be the judge.

chocolate starfish 1994

starfish.jpgChocolate Starfish's first major release spawned 2 top 5 hits in
"You're So Vain," the Carly Simon cover and "Mountain."
The tracks "All Over Me" and "4 Letter Word" also achieved top 40
Australian success.
An album that achieved Platinum status and received an Australian
Music Award for "Most Popular Album of 1994." It is undoubtedly
their most popular work.
"Mountain" was also re-recorded in Croatian and achieved top 10
status there in mid 1999.
Extensive touring over 1994 ensured this album was in the CD
collection of many Australians in the mid 90's.

seafood 1993

Prior to the commercial success of Choclate Starfish, Adam and
guitarist Zoran Romich penned the independant release "Seafood."
Distributed through eventual label EMI, Seafood sold
well independently amongst Starfish's growing Melbourne fan base
and was largely responsible for EMI's decision to sign Chocolate
Starfish as a priority act. The song "On This Day" was the
independent single, and tracks "In Me" and "Too Hot To Be Rain"
later appeared as re-recordings on the self titled and Box albums
respectively

A comical 6 piece band Adam fronted for 3 years whilst writing songs for
the first Starfish album. Achieving 'localised' cult status for their
limitless deconstruction of pop/rock and disco classics, The Hodads'
ethos was 'it's country or bust.' Spawning a single album for the fans
of its time, "The Hodads" album only skims the surface on an audio
level, the magical moments that were created visually when this
theatrical/country send up band took the stage. Only 500 copies were
ever produced - so good luck!
